So we’re currently at a combined age of 4 years and 3 months. It is incredible watching my body transform and meet the needs of my babies, when I say transform it is hardly like watching transformers or as exciting as playing with a transformers toy. No, it’s actually really boring. It’s what our bodies are there to do, it’s normal. Actually, to an outsider there is nothing to see – unless some chick and her kids were naked in one photo 😏
I always find it amazing when travelling around the world and seeing how different countries do Breastfeeding, or at least their take on it. Places like Vietnam and Laos were Breastfeeding bosses, they rocked that shit. However places like America seemed so far behind, it is funny how different countries can be, what they find acceptable or normal. In actual fact the average age for a child to naturally wean off of breastmilk is around four years.
However, in the U.K. I will often here of health professionals recommending 6 months minimum, or supplementing with formula. This isn’t a BAD thing, but support around Breastfeeding isn’t where it should be. In fact The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding for up to two years and beyond. The longer you breastfeed, the longer the good health effects will be for you and your child. There are so many conflicting advice, I think it’s only right you do what’s best for you and your family.
Currently my daughter very rarely feeds, in fact I thought she was done. However after she had hurt herself a couple weeks ago I found that nursing her was the only thing to calm her, and that’s okay. Nursing her that time made me realise I didn’t have that special photo that I can cherish for our journey. So here are some images I managed to capture. I’m so fucking happy with them I could show the world!
So please, don’t think about others when it comes to you and your babies. Do what you need to do mumma! ❤
